The KPG27 gearbox

 

KONTRONIK offers these gear boxes mounted on it's FUN and SAMBA motors. But they can be also mounted later on all motors having a 3,17mm shaft using an adaption flange. KPG25 and KPG27 are available with these ratios: 3,7:1, 4,2:1 and 5,2.1. The 6,7 gear ratio has a geared motor shaft and it is not possible to change to another ratio or to mount seperately.

The scope of delivery of a KPG25/27 gear box includes the motor pinion, you have to glue with Loctite adhesice (e.g. 648 or 2701). The bonding is possible to remove with heat, e.g. for changing the gear ratio.

The scope of delivery of a KPG25/27 includes also the planets with Teflon bearing as well as a first grease filling.

The fitting adaptation flange must be bought seperately, when changing a direct drive to a geared one.

If your application includes long duration flying or lots of power the grease has to be filled up from time to time. For all other applications the KPG25/27 gearboxes are maintenance free. If the Teflon bearings may be used up after a longer time - they are getting noisy - change the planets completely. Due to a screw thread you can open the gear box easily. Elder gearboxes have to be filled with grease from time to time.

Your decission for a KPG25 or a KPG27 depends mostly on the different shaft diameter. Prefer the 6mm shaft with power more than 400W. In smaller planes the 5mm shaft is the first choice due the available hubs.
